My Mother and Father Batted 1,000

In baseball if you bat 8 times and get 8 hits you’re batting 1,000. If you bat 5 times and get 2 hits your batting 400; if you get one hit you’re batting 200.

My mother and father raised 8 children. During those many years -

There was insistence on going to church on Sunday

There was insistence on saying the rosary

There was insistence on watching your language

There was insistence on watching your anger

There was insistence on what books you read

There was insistence on the people you associated with.

And you didn’t have Sunday unless you went to church. The result - all eight - hard to believe - all eight became believers.

All eight continued to be believers.

All eight now, 45 years later go to church regularly.

All eight are believers to this day.

Today, all eight are good and honorable people devoted to God and family.

All eight have consistently engaged in works of service and charity in a variety of ways.

Mom and dad are eight for eight.

And they- only with a minimum of education in a public school.

As the years go by they are looking better and better.

May they be remembered and cherished for what legacy they left us.
