The Remarkable 3:16’s

 

            If you were to ask someone what the most famous verse in the Bible is, they would probably say John 3:16. There are a few who would disagree with that choice.

           I began thinking about John 3:16, and about the numbers 3:16 and then I noticed 2 Tim 3:16 a very powerful and all encompassing scripture, that tells us “All scriptures are God breathed and are useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” A very, very important verse, underpinning all the other verses of the bible. It contained a basic tenet about the Bible itself. That led me to look at some other 3:16’s. I was absolutely astonished by what I found.

            I read 1 Tim 3:16, it declares beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great; He appeared in body, was vindicated by the spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, and was taken up in glory.

            Wow! The entire story of Christ’s coming. The whole salvation message was encapsulated in that one verse. How amazing, how remarkable: now I was definitely going to read some other 3:16’s. I turned to Matt 3:16; it describes the baptism of Jesus. A very important scripture indeed. The I examined Mark 3:16 it mentions Christ appoint the twelve. It just continued in the same remarkable fashion.

Luke 3:16 tells us about John the Baptist and how Christ will come to baptize us in the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Act 3:16 explains how faith in Jesus leads to healing.

1 Cor 3:16 declared we are God’s Temple.

2 Cor 3:16 tells us if we turn to the Lord, the veil (our inability to see God) in fallen away.

Gal 3:16 tells us about the promise made to Abraham - the first Hebrew - the first man the Lord chose to begin God’s long and elaborate plan of salvation.

Eph 3:16 speaks of the power of the Holy Spirit in our inner being.

Phil 3:16 exhorts us to remain steadfast in the faith.

Col 3:16 urges us to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, with gratitude in our hearts to God.

1 Thess 3:16 Assures us of the peace that only Christ can Give.

James 3:16 cautions us against envy and selfish ambitions.

1 Peter 3:16 urges us to treat others with gentleness and respect.

2 Peter 3:16 warns us not to misinterpret scriptures.

Amazing- astonishingly in these few verses we find that everyone of them are filled with the essential teachings of Christ.

            Finally, in Revelation 3:16, the last book of the Bible, we receive a harsh warning about being luke warm in our relationship with God. The most remarkable verse I found was 1 John 3:16 “which tells us this is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us, now we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”

 

Thus, in John 3:16 we are told how God loved us;

 

In 1 John 3:16 we are told how we are to love others.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Remarkable 3:16’s

 

            John 3:16 for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

            Matthew 3:16 as soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit God descending like a dove and lighting on him.

            Mark 3:16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter).

            Luke 3:16 John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”

            Acts 3:16 by faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you all can see.

            Romans 3:16 all are under the power of sin and in their path is ruin and destruction.

            1 Corinthians 3:16 don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s spirit lives in you?

            2 Corinthians 3:16 but whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

            Galatians 3:16 the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The scripture does not say “and to your seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to you seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ.

            Ephesians 3:16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.

           

Philippians 3:16 only let us live up to what we have already attained.

            Colossians 3:16 let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, ad you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your heart to God.

            2 Thessalonians 3:16 now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

            1 Timothy 3:16 beyond all questions, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.

            2 Timothy 3:16 all scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training righteousness.

            Hebrew 3:16 let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

            James 3:16 for where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

            1 Peter 3:16 but do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

            2 Peter 3:16 he writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant unstable people distort, as they do the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

            Revelation 3:16 so because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

            1 John 3:16 this is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
